Why the exploration metaphor?
We believe that the search for and validation of a new business is more like a process of exploration than executing a known path. This means the team involved should be thought of as ‘Explorers’ rather than ‘Founders’ at least until they have found and validated a desirable, feasible and viable business model.
The Lean Explorers Club provides a process broken down into Stages, Explorations and Tasks to guide and support individuals and teams undertaking Startup Exploration. This ensures startups understand what needs to be done and why.

This provides an opportunity for individual and organisational service providers who are aligned with Lean Startup and Customer Development principles to offer their services to Startup Exploration teams, as:
Guides who can provide direction and guidance with some of the tasks that Explorers need to undertake to effectively search for and validate their business model. For example, support with writing hypotheses and designing experiments.
Sherpas who undertake the work with Explorers. For example, this might be helping startups build or run their experiments, from interviews to web pages, and low or high fidelity product MVPs.
Organisational Service Providers who are not directly involved in the startup’s exploration but may be hired to undertake piece of work aligned with the principles and practices of Lean Business Exploration.
By this we mean the efficient and effective search for a new business by running the quickest and lowest-cost experiments. This approach increases the chance of success and reduces waste from starting and growing an unproven business model that fails.
Lean Business Exploration is definitely not about encouraging Lean Explorers to start with product/service development, marketing, sales or PR. It is about focusing on validating business model hypotheses as quickly and cheaply as possible (and if not, pivoting).

The membership includes mandatory online training in the fundamentals of Lean Startup and Customer Development approaches. Completion of the three Masterclass training webinars and quizzes is required for you to be certified as a Lean Business Exploration Service Provider in the LEC marketplace.
An Organisational Service Provider Membership provides an opportunity for organisations to offer their services or products in the LEC Marketplace to help Startup Exploration teams search for and validate their business ideas.
The membership includes five individual memberships for staff from your organisation. Mandatory online training is offered to the designated staff within your organisation in the fundamentals of Lean Startup and Customer Development approaches.
